July 19th - movement day at Gothia Cup
Each team is placed in groups of 4 or 5 teams and after we play each other the top 2 advance to the A bracket and the others advance to the B bracket. Fron that point on its a single elimination. As you can imagine, games will now get tougher starting tonight and Thursday.
Boys C play first as we play against a French team and Coach Andrew is sick, poor guy. But we play fantastic and we get our first win 1-0. Bpys C finish the group in 3rd place. Great start to the day.
Boys A play next as they play a team from Algeria and play their best game of the trip but they just cannot score and fall 1-0. Boys A finish the group last but watch out as they might find their stride.
Boys B play at Norwegian team and are really clicking as they win 7-0. With the win they advance in the A bracket, a good accomplishment at Gothia.
Girls up next and are struglling with injuries as they fall to a Swedish team 7-0. We need some life and some heatlhy legs but their spirit is still high.
We relax this afternoon, watch some games at Heden, do some shopping and then off to the Boys B game as they have a tough Swedish opponent tonight at 7 pm. Kids in force with chants and spirit but we don't play our best and lose 1-0. Tough way to end the Cup for the Bs but still a talented team.
Back to hotel for our nightly meeting to hand our PODs and we also have a room check just to see how messy these rooms are. lol. Sunny and 70 today, great weather in Sweden.
