Game day.
Last game in Spain and woke up excited. Nothing like waking up knowing you have the opportunity to play or coach a game, nothing like it.
Breakfast at 9:30 and then I have the boys do Coach Ed Sports Yoga at 12:30 in the sun. Its different but relaxing and gets the boys ready to go.
Lunch at 3:30 and a nap so the boys are ready to go.
Depart at 6:30 for game.
Game at 8:30 and we have a great warmup.
We are playing Paterna CF, a 3rd division team and we are playing their 2nd team so a great opportunity for my boys.
Love games at night, full moon, energy raging through the locker room, WOW!!!
First half starts fast as you can imagine and we create opportunities right off the bat.
We give up a soft goal in the 20th minute but attack directly from the kickoff and create a chance that Cole Davidson put away but a strange offsides call denied the goal. Oh well.
Half time 1-0 Paterna.
2nd half we have a higher line and play high pressure and are all over them for 20 minutes, creating chances and dominating play but nothing to show for it.
I decide to go to 3 defenders in the back and push for the equalizer and it results in a counter attack goal for them, now we are down 2-0. No worries, we keep attacking and the hard work pays off as Josh Varghese pulls one back 5 minutes from the end, down 2-1 and now the energy is really high.
From the kickoff we press again and instantly create another opportunity that just misses wide.
Game ended 2-1 loss but extremely happy with the level and the fight we showed. Boys played very well and a great way to end our games. Not to mention that 10 of my boys are under the weather, including me, some kind of bug has hit our team, ugh.
Off to hotel to rest as we have some more adventures on our agenda for Thursday.
More tomorrow,
Ciao
