Finals day.
7:30 am for Macey, Laney and Boys B as Macy and Laney have a final today at 8:30 am. Boys B go and support as we are one tight group.
Early game and it shows as they lose 3-0 to a better team, but Macy and Laney were stars again and had a great tournament.
Boys A eat later and then all meet back at school to go to Grocery store together so we can buy some food for Sunday am breakfast. Fun experience watching some of these kids interact.
Some bus issues so we walk about 2 miles to the stadium where we have lunch and eventually our final as its delayed until 3:30.
We play our friends from Morocco and what a great atmosphere in the stadium.
Both teams are tired from the long week and game is a bit boring as cautious play is very evident.
We tie 0-0 at the half and come out the 2nd half more aggressive and it pays off as Jack Wyatt slots one home for a 1-0 lead. Personally, I thought it would hold up and it did until 15 minutes left to play and we give up a soft goal. Regulation ends 1-1 so once again its overtime.
Rain is starting to fall and not many chances for either team. We end the first OT period still tied and with 3 minutes to play in the 2nd OT before PKs we allow an uncontested cross to land in our box and the result is an own goal. Its unfortunate but it happens. Rain starts falling harder as we are soaked but we push forward and almost equalize a few times before we give up another goal as time expires. Final 3-1 loss.
Boys are crushed and although they have a 2nd place medal around their neck, it still stings and I feel for them.
We had this game but thats football and we need to play the full game.
Feel badly for the boys and the bus ride home is quiet as expected.
We shower and get that loss off our minds and we walk the entire group to downtown for pizza and ice cream, a cure all for almost any set back.
Kids bounce back quickly, not so sure about the staff but ......On the way back I take them to the sea to take pics and chill and just unwind as its still sun light out at 10 pm.
Curfew at midnight tonight and a loud cheer can be heard!
Kids have their phones for the next 24 hours so you all should be hearing from them.
We transfer to Sweden tomorrow on a ferry and kids are packing and excited.
Have a great day.
Ciao
