09 July 2017
Breakfast at 8 and another great meal.
Both teams report at 9:30 for what we think is a 10 am game but the other team, also local expected an 11 am game so we train for an hour and then play against a U17 team.
Boys A play first half and play great, up 2-0 with goals from Cannon Braggs and Jack Wyatt. Halftime came and we slowly subbed in our boys B team and they did well too, with final score 1-1 as Kaden Schell added another goal.
Lunch at 12 pm and then another game at 2 vs. the other team that is staying here at our Sport Center, a 6th division team doing their pre season. They are a U21 team with a few older players so we are excited for the test.
Both teams are exhausted from the multiple trainings but we play great at times. Eddie Puskarich puts us up 1-0 before our German opponents tie it 5 minutes later but Jack Wyatt secured the win with a nice goal and we win 2-1 but not before 2 goal line clearances to preserve the win. Lots of fun and both teams really enjoyed the game.
Now some free time, finally and the kids go to the pool, play sand volleyball, build sandcastles, and just chill out.
Dinner at 6 and since all have been great, we take the kids on a walk through town and its absolutely gorgeous with clear blue skies, no wind, temps about 70 and so peaceful. We stop for Ice Cream as they have earned some luxury and we walk through town, stop at a park and just have a blast.
Time to pack up and prepare for our transfer to Denmark on Monday. Kids get their phones tonight for an hour so expect some communication but I will warn you, our phones are not working well here, maybe due to the size of the town, etc. but mine is very intermittent.
Its been nice with no TVs, computer, phones, etc, and the kids have been great getting to know each other, bond as teammates, play games, and just talk in the halls with each other. Such a great group of kids and I will be honest with you, both teams can play. We leave Germany undefeated and with some confidence. Bring on the Cup 1 please in Denmark!
Hope are all enjoying the blog and the pics and I am also posting on FB on the Stars 'n Stripes page as well.
Kids are great, no homesickness, no illness, some sore muscles but besides that all good. But they have to clean their rooms tonight, so.....
Ciao
