What a game, let me just start by saying it again, what a game and my boys came to play today.
Breakfast at 9 am and a game day team walk around and stretch at 10.
Boys look focused and relaxed.
Some free time to nap or chill and then lunch at 1 pm.
Bus departure for game at 2 pm, about an hour ride and game at 4.
We play another team from Levante, a better and older team, go figure. But that's what you get when you are successful.
A bit windy but nothing like last week and the sun is out.
Great pregame and boys are ready to roll.
We win a free kick close to midfield and Josh Kemp plays a great diagonal ball to the back post and Gary Willis brings it down and pokes it by the gk in the 20 minute mark.
Spurs up 1-0.
Levante is a great team with the majority of the possession but we are very compact and organized as I have been teaching for weeks. It pays off as we catch them on a counter and Harrison Machado wins the ball at our own 18, plays Eddie Puskarich at midfield. Eddie plays Chris Mendez and they do a quick wall pass and Eddie is off versus the gk. He dribbles the gk and stumbles but manages to get a shot off and it hits the inside of the post and bounces across the 6 yard box and Isaac Arrington hammers it home for a 2-0 lead with about 15 minutes to go.
We finish the half creating more chances and Levante is on their heels and not sure what has hit them. Halftime, Texas Spurs 2 - Levante 0.
Good halftime chat to keep the boys focused and grounded and we start the 2nd half where we left off, organized! Its pretty even and we don't give them anything as Connor Hayward is not being tested at all. Back four of Taylor Jackson, Gary Willis, Patrick Pearson, and Harrison Machado are doing a great job.
We counter them again on several chances are just inches from stretching our lead.
We win a throw in near the corner flag and Josh finds Eddie who in turn finds Chris Mendez at the corner of the 18 and Chris fires a screamer into the side netting and we now are up 3-0 with about 14 minutes to play.
The boys finish the game creating more chances but more importantly we maintain our discipline and organization and we win the game.
Final score, Spurs 3 - Levante 0
What a game and a great result and boys are on cloud nine as they should be. Singing and chanting in the locker room followed by upbeat behavior on the bus ride home.
Dinner soon and then we leave for a game as we are watching Levante play Rayo Vallecano at 10 pm.
Cannot say enough about this group of boys, or young men, as we are shocking the world.
Come join us on top of world!!!
Chat more tomorrow
Ciao
