14 July 2014
First full day in Gothia Cup and another long day, but eventful and successful.
After an awesome breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, crepes, fruit, etc, etc, etc, girls head off to first game.
They tie 1-1 after giving up an early goal, Katelyn Havard scored and girls should have won the game but just could not break down the other team.
Boys 16 play next and tie 0-0. Also a slow start, we dominated and should have won by 2-3 goals with a great save from the defender in the last second to preserve the tie.
Boys 19 next and also play to a 0-0 tie in a very close game, but once again failing to finish our chances hurt us.
Girls 17 are last and give up a soft goal and then completely dominate in the rain as Christine scored to tie it up and shot after shot just missed the target.
So we are unbeaten for the first day, but also winless.
Rush back to hotel for Great dinner and then change and walk to stadium for Gothia Cup Opening Ceremonies. As I state each year, what a show and what a fabulous experience. Hope most of you watched it on Gothia Cup TV as it was a 2 hour show with all countries represented, music, and great fireworks show.
Kids fast asleep as we have a long day of games tomorrow.
POD - Player of the Day/game
Girls 19 - Katelyn Havard
Boys 16 - Cory Wright
Boys 19 - Junior Arvizu

Wish us luck tomorrow!!
Ciao
