Gothia Cup has arrrived.
After our 15 hour bus ride we arrive in Gothenburg wet and cold as weather is awful. We usually train after a long transfer but we are concerned about the kids training in this so we adjust a little and give them some time in the mall, grab a nice lunch, etc. We change money for those who did not follow my guidelines and all kids are doing well.
They love the hotel, same one for the last 8-9 years and the hotel loves us. Great rooms, spacious areas, full kitchens, and awesome meals. plus right next to Central Station. Kids are jacked to play on Monday.
After dinner, all nestle down to watch the USA Womens team in the World Cup final, our hearts are broken as they lose in PKs. Great run for the girls though and we will hear the applause at the opening ceremony tomorrow night. Hopefully the weather holds off for the games and the ceremony. Wish us luck and speak to you tomorrow night with glowing news about the event.
Ciao,
Ed
p.s.
I probably have forgotten to point this out, but elevators are not a part of SnS, either in Italy, Germany, or Sweden and with some players on the 7th floor, we are getting stronger and stronger. Funny thing about tour is that you take away phones, computers, electronic games, TV, etc, and what do the kids willingly do? Find ways to occupy their time which is outside playing soccer, juggling, playing cards, or just plain simple communication.
Really cool to watch.
