Dear SnS families,
Another long day but event filled as well. The wait is up to see who did our first sittups. Steven lost his boarding pass and I'm pretty sure a 1000 sittups will go a long way in preventing that from happening again. But he's not alone. Lots of small things like forgetting parts of equipment, not saying count off number, leaving things behind, etc. All usual for start of tour.
Rain started off our day and it lasted most of the am and part of the afternoon. 96 blue got the tour going by winning 1-0 vs Malta as brad got the 1st goal on tour. Should have been more as we missed loads of chances. Good win though.
96 red were next and won convincingly vs an Italian team 3-0. Goals from stewie, Sebastian, and chris Mairson paved way but some great saves from Zack really impressed.
Lunch at beachside cafes before the girls play on turf in driving rain. We play a strong Italian team and play tough until a red card sealed our fate as we lost 4-0.
Then another dissappointment as boys 92 lose 1-0 to a Brazilian team after controlling most of the GM.
Cramps in all 4 games tell us the trip took a toll on our bodies. They will acclimate better as we progress. Also subs can't re enter a match once subbed so we need to manage better.
After a great dinner, off once again to opening ceremonies which were good but not great as they lasted a long time. We are tired and now off to bed.
5 games on slate for Wednesday.
SnS has a tradition called POD, player of day, similar to yellow jersey in tour de France.
POD's:
Girls - Alex Copp
Boys 92 - Matt Pitcock
96 Boys Blue - Brad Dweck
96 Boys Red - Zack Hays
Our daily journal will be up soon so look for that as well as pics. Kids are all well. Speak to you tomorrow.
Ciao,
Ed
