January 5th - Valencia sightseeing day.
What a day we had today.
Breakfast at 8:30, depart at 9:30 for beach area.
First on the agenda, bike ride. We biked about 10 miles on paths and through rice paddies and then to the beach area. Simply awesome!!! A bit chilly but sunny and really fun time. We put our toes in the Mediterranean Sea and collect some sea shells and then back on the bikes. We then arrive at the lake that parallels the Sea and get on a small boat with our bikes and take a nice boat cruise through the protected reserve areas in the lake. Watch some birds and just a very serene experience. Girls loved it.
After the lake we head to a Valencian house of my friends and watch and participate in the making of Payea, a Valencian tradition. We pick some avocados, oranges, and mandarin oranges while having some sangria and just relaxing, A great experience. In Spain, Christmas is celebrated as the birth of Jesus while the 6th of January is celebrated as the 3 kings that bear gifts as that is the day when all open up Christmas presents, etc. Our hosts gifted all of us with a small gift which was really nice After our fantastic dinner we transfer to a small town on the sea for the 3 Kings Parade which celebrates the 3 Kings bringing gifts. Every city in Spain has a parade and once again another great experience.
Home finally for our dinner and kids and staff are wiped out.
But WHAT a Day!!!
